The College Hostel, later known as Old Hostel, opened in 1930 or 1931, was the first purpose-built student residence at Massey Agricultural College. The building was a conglomeration of some of the outbuildings of the Batchelar homestead and new, matching additions.

In the early 1930s, the College was able to provide accommodation to a total of seventy five male students in Old Hostel and the Batchelar homestead.

Part of the building was removed to make way for the Business Studies Central building that was erected in 1988. The remaining part of Old Hostel was removed in 2009.
