Local History - Manawatū
There are a number of individuals and groups within the Manawatū region who have a strong interest in local history and recording and preserving our local heritage. These groups and facilities include, but are not limited to, the Palmerston North Heritage Trust, the Manawatū Journal of History, Te Manawa Science Centre and Museum, local branches of the New Zealand Society of Genealogists, the New Zealand Rugby Museum, Feilding and Districts Community Archive, New Zealand History Group of U3A, Palmerston North Defence Heritage Advisory Group, Ian Matherson City Archives, Massey University History Programme, Historic Places Manawatū-Horowhenua, along with the Massey University Archives and Special Collections.
Because of this strong interest in the history and heritage of our region, items on Tāmiro that pertain to the history of our region have been brought together for ease of access.
